Prime Minister Imran Khan warned citizens Wednesday that anyone who goes to wage jihad in Kashmir will hurt the territory's cause, as anger simmers between Islamabad and New Delhi over the disputed region. Indian authorities are waiting for "any excuse" to crack down in the Himalayan region, he warned, promising again to raise the issue at the United Nations General Assembly next week.

India has flooded its side of Kashmir with troops in a clampdown, igniting outrage in Pakistan. "If someone from Pakistan goes to India to fight... he will be the first to do an injustice to Kashmiris, he will be the enemy of Kashmiris," Khan said during a speech in Torkham, on the border with Afghanistan. "They need an excuse," he said of Indian troops. "It will provide them an excuse for torture and barbarism."

Khan spoke after Pakistan fired back Wednesday at Delhi's jingoistic rhetoric when India's foreign secretary vowed to retake Azad Jammu & Kashmir. In the latest move, Pakistan said Wednesday it had denied Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi permission to fly through its airspace due to the "situation in Indian occupied Kashmir".

New Delhi regretted the decision, Raveesh Kumar, a spokesman for the Indian government, said. "Pakistan should reflect upon its decision to deviate from well established international practice, as well as reconsider its old habit of misrepresenting the reasons for taking unilateral action," he added in a statement.-AFP BR staff reporter adds from Peshawar: Prime Minister Imran Khan has attributed the massive depreciation of rupee to massive current account deficit. Talking to media after inaugurating 24/7 opening of the Torkham Border Terminal here at Torkham Wednesday, the prime minister said that Rs24,000 billion loans were taken during ten years of PML-N and PPP government due to two NROs given by the then President Pervez Musharraf to corrupt politicians.

He reiterated that his Government would give no NRO or safe passage to any corrupt politician. The prime minister said the elimination of corruption was imperative for sustained progress and development.

The Prime Minister said from Day-I, opposition is making a hue and cry and raising questions on the accountability process to get an NRO for their jailed leaders, he said, adding his Government would not give NRO to anyone.

He said present corruption cases against opposition leaders were not initiated by his government.

To a question, the prime minister said that emotion-driven attempt of people to cross border in support of besieged Kashmiris brethren will in fact adversely affect the struggle of Kashmiris besides damaging the image of Pakistan.

He also assured the nation that he will present the case of Kashmiris in the upcoming session of United Nations in a very effective and meaningful manner and apprise the world community about the suffering of Kashmiris.

The Prime Minister said any step by an individual or a group of people will damage the image of the country as India will manipulate the situation by raising the allegation of cross-border terrorism. "Therefore, I will advise countrymen not to take any sentimental step in support of the besieged Kashmiris," he said.

He said the recent incident of attack on a Hindu temple in Ghotki is also part of a conspiracy to sabotage his visit to the UN. He said the atrocities meted out by Indian army in the held Kashmir will bounce back in the shape of a strong reaction from Kashmiris and international community, therefore we should not take any decision which can harm the struggle of Kashmiris besides damaging image of our country. He reiterated in categorical terms that government will not allow anyone and even stop everyone from crossing LoC to go for support of the besieged Kashmiris.
